World AIDS Day: A Moment to Reflect, Understand, and Act with Compassion
On 1st December each year, the global community comes together to celebrate the World AIDS Day, a day which reminds all of us that it is our duty to nurture people living with HIV, combats stigma and enhances awareness. In Karunalya Social Welfare Foundation, the day has a very significant meaning since it embodies the core of our operations on a daily basis. HIV has been consumed by fear, misconceptions and silence over the years. What is behind the statistic, however, are actual lives of parents, workers, adolescents, caregivers, who are attempting to make a life of dignity, and who are subject to the social judgement, which often is more painful than the disease itself.
